The Friends of Cumberland Lodge is a community of people who value their connections to Cumberland Lodge and want to be involved in our activities and work.

The scheme was established in 2014 and has proved to be very popular. Members have access to a range of exclusive benefits, such as:

  • Priority invitations to Cumberland Conversations and other public events
  • Access to exclusive, members only social and cultural events
  • Private visits to prestigious venues associated with Cumberland Lodge
  • Cumberland Lodge lapel badge
  • Quarterly newsletter, with news and insight into our activities and events.

By becoming a Friend, you will be helping us to provide ongoing student scholarships and bursaries, and supporting our charitable projects and educational activities.

Dr Adelina Gavrila was one our first Cumberland Lodge Scholars (2014-16 intake) and she has since completed her PhD at the University of Leicester. Speaking abot her association with Cumberland Lodge, she said: “Whilst studying for my PhD I was lucky enough to become a Cumberland Lodge Scholar.  This scholarship has enabled me to develop my skills outside my field of research.

"Being a molecular biologist, I don't often have the opportunity to attend interdisciplinary conferences that widen my understanding of issues concerning society. I also gained valuable skills in communication and public speaking which has impacted overall on my study and future development.  Ultimately, I believe that one of the greatest achievements of being a scholar is that, it has made me a more rounded individual, with a stronger commitment to making an impact on society."
