KCL PHILOSOPHY
"This is an occasion when students can meet lecturers in an informal atmosphere. There is a varied programme for the weekend with a combination of student papers, a visiting speaker, a light-hearted quiz, a party on Saturday night, a football match, and time to spend in the bar or in the grounds of the park."

LSE EUROPEAN INSTITUTE
"Each year the European Institute organises a workshop at Cumberland Lodge for its students. Cumberland Lodge is a former Royal Residence in The Great Park at Windsor. In 1947 King George VI granted the Lodge to St Catherine's - an educational charitable trust - as a place where students could come for short periods to get to know each other, to get to know their teachers and, in a relaxed environment, have the opportunity to discuss important social and ethical issues and to think about the value of their academic work in relation to society."

UCL ELECTRONIC + ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
"
It is very important that you develop your interpersonal and professional skills while you are at university and that you become an effective ‘problem-solver’, in addition to gaining knowledge in your academic subject area
In the last week of October of your first year the department invites you on a three day (Wednesday to Friday) residential trip to Cumberland Lodge situated in Windsor Great Park. The purpose of this trip is to explore areas of Electronic and Electrical Engineering not formally covered in the curriculum. It will come as no surprise that the team building exercise proves to be the most popular event with a prize at the end for the best team.
There is also a free afternoon for you to explore Great Windsor Park or visit Windsor Castle. Cumberland Lodge is a large country house and the perfect venue to get to know your fellow students and academic staff in an idyllic location with a high standard of accommodation and cuisine"
UCL BIOLOGY
"The Biology Department at UCL has been visiting Cumberland Lodge since 1982. We always have a biological theme with talks from both staff and students. In the past few years the themes have been the 'Manipulation of Nature', 'Biology and Sex', and 'Evolution – what do we really know about it'.
The weekend is open to all members of the department and we aim for a mix of undergraduates and postgraduates but we are limited to 50 places and so 1st year undergraduates and those who haven't been before have priority."
UNIVERSITY OF HERFORDSHIRE PHILOSOPHY
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON POLITICS
"The aim of the conference is to explore issues in contemporary political studies in a relaxed environment. Research papers are presented by both staff and students, and doctoral students in particular view the weekend as useful preparation for future participation in national and international academic conferences. We have been going to Cumberland Lodge for the past 25 years, demonstrating our commitment to providing rigorous academic training and intellectual development to our postgraduate students.
Cumberland Lodge is a wonderful location for our conference: a former royal residence and hunting lodge in Windsor Great Park which became the home of the St. Catherine’s Foundation, set up by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth after the Second World War to promote the pursuit of learning in a relaxed atmosphere.
The grounds of the Lodge and the walks that are available in the Park are spectacular, and our conference programmes always allow time for relaxation and informal discussion. We believe our Cumberland Lodge Conference offers a unique experience for our postgraduate students, and is one of the highlights of our academic year."
