Three or four times a year, Cumberland Lodge opens its doors to the public for an early evening "conversation" with a guest speaker. Recent guests have included Baroness Butler-Sloss, Hugo Vickers, Lord Gowrie, Sir Roger Bannister, Virginia McKenna and Sir Andrew Motion. The evening is usually chaired by the Principal, Dr Alastair Niven. Admission to a Cumberland Conversation is currently free of charge and the event usually lasts about an hour and a half.
Conversations start at 6.00pm. Tea is available from 5.45pm and a glass of wine offered afterwards.
