Philip Barker: The Music (and Politics) of the Olympics
How much do we really know about the commissioning and staging of the Olympic Games? Later this year, Danny Boyle will realise his vision for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, but the composers and musicians have been kept strictly under wraps. Music always invokes emotions and memories - the same is true of Olympics past. But what are the stories and politics behind these commissions? While we await the sound of London 2012, Philip Barker will take us on an audio journey of the Olympics through the ages.
The event will be held on 21 May, 2012 from 8pm, at Goodenough College, Bloomsbury.
