31st Cumberland Lodge Police Conference

Police leaders need to prepare for the introduction of elected Police and Crime Commissioners in November 2012. The new political order will require not only new management and leadership techniques among senior police officers, but a renewed clarity of vision regarding the future of policing. This conference meet these needs by offering discussion of the practical responses to the new governance structures in the context of an informed debate about the limits and purpose of policing.

Delegates at the conference heard the insights of high-profile leaders who have come under political scrutiny. They heard from past and present chief officers as well as leaders in different sectors; for example from local authorities, the civil service and the media.
