Maggie is listed as a guest speaker for one of our discussions but she does not work at Cumberland Lodge. We cannot share her contact details and it is not always possible for us to pass on contact enquiries to past speakers.

Maggie has extensive operational experience of working in and managing criminal justice services over 30 years. She has specialist knowledge of public protection working in probation and prisons; youth justice and child protection.

She initially commenced her career as a practitioner in the Probation Service in the early 1990s working in London and Oxford.

She went on to set up the first County Youth Offending Service (YOT) in 1998 across Oxfordshire. This experience led to an appointment in the 2000s at the newly established National Youth Justice Board for England and Wales where she had oversight of youth justice policy and practice across all youth justice services and juvenile prisons, working as a senior civil servant advising government.

Her interest in children and young people at risk led to a further decade in safeguarding and child protection at senior executive level where  Maggie became independent chair of Hampshire and Oxfordshire Local Safeguarding Children Boards with oversight of high profile child sexual exploitation and domestic homicide operations from 2006-2016. She was also a member of the Parole Board during this decade with specialist advisory advice on children in prison.

In 2016 Maggie joined policing as a fast track Supterintendent working with Hampshire Constabulary initially as an operational Superintendent and district commander with responsibility for Portsmouth City.

In 2019 she was promoted to Assistant Chief Constable having completed the national Strategic Command Course and worked across Hampshire as operational ACC local policing (with a year in Wiltshire following SCC). She took up the Deputy Chief Constable role of VAWG Co-ordinator for the National Police Chiefs Council in October 2021.

Maggie has published a range of articles and volumes on children at risk/youth justice and has completed post graduate studies in policing and criminal justice. She also holds an MA in Education. She is married with daughters.
