Katie Markham is a Research Associate in Heritage and Museum studies at Newcastle University, UK. Her research interests include tourism and community heritage practices in recently conflicted societies. She has particular interests in the way that such places shape the production of empathy and positive identities.
Katie is the author of several book chapters and articles, including an article written for the International Journal of Heritage Studies on photographic empathy at District Six Museum, Cape Town and a book chapter on black cab mural tourism in Belfast, published in the 2018 volume Emotion, Affective Practices and the Past in the Present (Laurajane Smith, Margaret Wetherell and Gary Campbell, eds).
