Lord Finkelstein OBE is a weekly political columnist, Associate Editor and former Executive Editor of The Times. Before joining The Times in 2001, he was an adviser to both Prime Minister John Major and the Conservative leader William Hague. He was named Political Commentator of the Year at the Editorial Intelligence Comment Awards in 2011 and 2012.
He is also a former chairman of Policy Exchange and has been a Member of the House of Lords since August 2013. He was educated at University College School, part of LSE, and at City University London. His mother, Mirjam Finkelstein, was a Holocaust survivor of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp and daughter of Dr Alfred Wiener, the Jewish activist and founder of the Wiener Library.
In 2017, Lord Finkelstein accepted an invitation to give the annual Cumberland Lodge Lecture on 'The Arrow of History?', as part of our 70th anniversary series of conferences, lectures, seminars, and educational and cultural events for the local community here in Windsor.
