Magda is listed as a guest speaker for one of our discussions but she does not work at Cumberland Lodge. We cannot share her contact details and it is not always possible for us to pass on contact enquiries to past speakers.

Dr Magda Borkowska is a sociologist working in the Research Centre on Micro-Social Change (MiSoC) at the University of Essex. Prior to joining MiSoC, she was a member of the Understanding Society Policy Unit (University of Essex) and Centre for Social Investigation (University of Oxford).

Her research explores questions around ethnicity and migration; political behaviour and attitudes; civil society; socioeconomic inequalities; and social cohesion.

Apart from her academic work, Magda frequently works with Government Departments and non-governmental bodies on social policy issues. She contributed to the reports on gender and racial inequalities in the labour market commissioned by the Government Equalities Office and Trades Union Congress, as well as to the development of the Indicators of Integration Framework published by the Home Office.
