Russ is listed as a guest speaker for one of our discussions but he does not work at Cumberland Lodge. We cannot share his contact details and it is not always possible for us to pass on contact enquiries to past speakers.
Russ is Head of Communications at parkrun, the global health and wellbeing charity with a mission to make the world a healthier and happier place by removing the barriers to physical activity. Russ joined the organisation in 2015 and looks after all aspects of brand, marketing, communication and commercial. In this time, Russ has overseen the dramatic shift in communication style and focus at parkrun, challenging the conventional view of what it is to be physically active, and ensuring that parkrun truly is for everyone no matter how or when someone chooses to participate.
In 2018 Russ helped to launch and manage the parkrun-owned sports apparel brand CONTRA. The brainchild of parkrun Founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt, offering ethically made, quality sports kit in a wider range of sizes that fit properly, CONTRA aims to disrupt an industry that for too long has marginalised those who don't necessarily conform to an out-dated view of being physically active or 'sporty'.
Russ is passionate about empowering individuals and communities to make positive health and wellbeing choices and how effective communication can reach and support those who might otherwise be excluded. Prior to parkrun Russ worked for and with global brands and leading agencies across sport, marketing and advertising in the UK and Australia.
