On Monday 20 March 2017 we welcomed 54 participants on the Prince's Trust International Leadership Programme (ILP) to Cumberland Lodge, for a week-long conference.

The programme was run by Prince's Trust International, who were hiring our residential conference and meeting facilities for the second half of a two-week international summit.

Delegates included young leaders aged 25 to 34, from 17 countries: Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, UAE and the UK. 

During their stay at Cumberland Lodge they heard from speakers such as:

  • Lionel Zetter - public affairs expert

  • Kailash Satyarthi - the children's rights and education advocate and 2014 Nobel Peace Prize co-recipient 

  • Justin Packshaw - the philanthropist, entrepreneur and adventurer 

  • Kim Samuel - president of the Samuel Family Foundation 

  • Shazia Saleem - entrepreneur and founder of ieat foods

They also heard from representatives of many faiths, and discussed issues such as the role of education, culture, music, youth, business and faith in preventing conflict.
