About the artist

Penny is based in Deal, Kent, and previously lived more locally to us, in Finchampstead, near Wokingham.

Her work is influenced by ‘action painting’. She paints with a distinctive spontaneity and energetic expression, to create vibrant and engaging images of figures in motion.

Penny's works have been widely exhibited across the UK. In 2005 she was commissioned by Blackburn Cathedral to produce ‘The Journey’, a permanent display of 15, six-foot high oil paintings depicting the crucifixion of Christ and inspired by the emotive and transformative power of dance.

The new exhibition is part of our ongoing series of arts and cultural events for the local community. Friends of Cumberland Lodge were invited to a preview on Monday 19 September.
