Paula started her career as a primary school teacher before joining West Yorkshire Police in 2006. She went on to be accepted for the High Potential Development Scheme in 2012.

Paula is a PIP3 Detective Superintendent and head of the force’s Safeguarding Central Governance Unit. She has strategic responsibility for MAPPA, Adult Safeguarding, Child Safeguarding, Honour Based Abuse and Forced Marriage, Missing People and Mental Health issues, amongst others.

Paula was selected as a national representative of the HPDS to speak on the Code of Ethics at the Cumberland Lodge Police Seminar at The Royal College in London in 2015, leading to her being invited to join as a member of the Police Steering Committee.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Police Leadership and Management awarded by Warwick Business School.

Paula is passionate about developing others. She is a firm believer in mentoring and coaching, organising the 2016 West Yorkshire Police BAWP conference on this topic and speaking at the first WOW Women conference to be held in Bradford.

Time away from work is spent with family and friends, particularly her partner and one-year-old son. She loves to travel, read, walk and laugh. A lot.
