Dr Maryyum Mehmood is a socio-political analyst, cultural commentator and interfaith mentor.
Maryyum is the Centre Facilitator and Fellow at the Edward Cadbury Centre for the Public Understanding of Religion at the University of Birmingham. In this capacity, she works to harness and implement the strategy and vision of the Centre, and to oversee the multiple projects running at the Centre.
She is also a Research Associate at St Benet's Hall, University of Oxford. Maryyum completed an ESRC-funded PhD studentship at the Department of War Studies, King's College London. Her thesis explores Antisemitism and Islamophobia through the target's lens.
Maryyum also holds an MA in South Asia & Global Security (Distinction) from the Department of War Studies, King's College London, and a BA (Hons.) in Politics from SOAS.
Currently, she contributes to a range of research subjects in academic journals as well as international media outlets. Maryyum tweets @marymood.
