Dr Matthew Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Public Humanities and Director of External Engagement for the School of Humanities, Royal Holloway, University of London. Matthew’s research, teaching and practice interests lie in digital humanities, public history, museum studies, democratic heritage, and the history of rights and representation. Matthew was also the Director of Royal Holloway’s ‘Citizens: 800 years in the making’, a major four-year Heritage Fund supported public and schools engagement project delivered in partnership with the UK Parliament, People’s History Museum, History of Parliament Trust and others. Matthew is also a Trustee and former curator of Egham Museum.
