Emily Gow joined Cumberland Lodge as Programme Officer in April 2019. She is responsible for supporting our Programme Director on the effective delivery of all our charitable events and educational programmes, including our independent research commissions, annual conference series and consultations, and our work with students and young people.
Emily has a passion for social change and hopes that her work at Cumberland Lodge will help her to continue to make a difference and empower others to do the same. Having graduated from the University of Southampton with an Integrated Masters in French and Spanish, in 2017, Emily was selected for the Charityworks UK graduate scheme, an acclaimed leadership development programme for young people seeking to build a career in the not-for-profit sector.
She spent a year working at a housing association as part of the Charityworks UK programme, which gave her the chance to establish a good network in the sector and to gain an understanding of key issues affecting work and society.
In 2018, Emily spent a year living and working in Corsica, where she taught English to children and young people, on a work placement with the British Council.
Outside of work, she is a keen triathlete and long-distance runner, and enjoys spending time training with friends. She is also a trustee of a local charity, the Adult Dyslexia Centre.
