Lord Anderson KBE QC joined us as a Visiting Fellow in 2018, after a long association with Cumberland Lodge, including as guest speaker at several of our recent conferences and seminars.

David is a practising barrister specialising in EU, human rights and public law. He is also a Visiting Professor at King’s College London, a Judge of the Courts of Appeal of Jersey and Guernsey, and a cross-bench life peer.

In July 2018 he was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE), for services to national security and civil liberties. He was the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation in the United Kingdom between 2011 and 2017.

David has also been named by The Times as one of the UK’s 100 most influential lawyers, and by the Evening Standard as one of London’s 1,000 most influential people.
