Saeed joined us as a Cumberland Lodge Fellow in September 2017. Saeed started his PhD study at the University of Kent in 2016. His research focuses on developing drug delivery systems that selectively target cancer tissues.

After graduating from the University of Damascus with a degree in pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry in 2007, Saeed completed a postgraduate diploma in clinical and hospital pharmacy. From 2009, and until leaving the country in 2016, he was a teaching fellow of clinical and hospital pharmacy at the University of Damascus and the Syrian Private University. His work involved equipping students with the skills and tools necessary to achieve a more effective pharmacotherapy.

He was also the managing editor and the publication designer of Drug Information Journal; a periodical published by the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Damascus, in collaboration with World Health Organization.

Prior to arriving to the UK to start his PhD in 2016, Saeed managed his own community pharmacy business for two years. He was also a clinical research associate at Pharmaquest, a contract research organisation.

He has a special interest in the employment of graphic design in delivering ideas and concepts to both specialised and public audience.
