Multimedia journalist and filmmaker Sofie Ejlers Wolthers was born in Brazil from half Danish parents. She grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida but spent her Christmases and summers in Brazil and Denmark. She credits this upbringing for her fascination with society, culture and social justice. Recently, she has directed her first documentary 'A New Society’, a film about the International Panel on Social Progress (IPSP). She’s currently touring the documentary and doing research for her second film 'Period Piece', a documentary series about the role of menstruation in Western culture.

Sofie has a BA in Communication from Loyola University of Chicago.
