Tanya O'Carroll is Co-founder and Director of Amnesty Tech, a globally distributed team of advocates, hackers, researchers and technologists committed to ensuring that advancements in technology benefit, rather than erode, rights. 
In her eight years at Amnesty,  she has spearheaded innovation projects focused on the use of new technologies for human rights monitoring and built up a programme of research and advocacy to ensure accountability when it comes to issues such as surveillance, big data, artificial intelligence and Big Tech. 
Tanya previously worked with human rights and video organisation WITNESS.
She holds an MA in Human Rights from Columbia University and a BA in History from Cambridge University.
