Film and Social Impact: Dialogue & Debate

Video and audio recordings of the Dialogue & Debate: Film & Social Impact webinar hosted by Cumberland Lodge on 2 December 2020

Resource type: Webinar

In this hour-long Dialogue & Debate webinar, we explore the scope that film, drama and documentary makers have to make a social impact through the stories they bring to our screens. We discuss their potential for deepening our understanding, changing our perspectives or inspiring initiatives to promote social progress.

We also examine some of the challenges that filmmakers face in this process, and opportunities for future film projects.

The discussion features four guest panellists:

  • Jane Fletcher – Director of Programme Delivery and Learning, Into Film
  • Anna Kumacheva – Screenwriter and producer; PhD student; Cumberland Lodge Fellow
  • Ken Loach – Film and television director (director of I, Daniel Blake)
  • Stephan Pierre Mitchell – Film director; Producer of Deleted

This webinar is presented by our Chief Executive, Dr Ed Newell.
