The 2018 Cumberland Lodge Debate on 'What should it mean to be British?' took place on 22 October 2018 at the KPMG offices in Mayfair, central London.

Panellists were invited to debate what binds us together as a nation, particularly at a time when populist attitudes towards multiculturalism, and diversity, as well as political polarisation, are creating new lines of division.

The event was moderated by BBC presenter Evan Davis.

Guest panellists were:

- Magid Magid, Lord Mayor of Sheffield

- Anthony Heath, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, University of Oxford

- Patricia O’Lynn, PhD candidate and Alliance Party of Northern Ireland candidate

- Anne Wafula Strike MBE, British paralympian wheelchair racer
