Add to Calendar 2021-12-20 14:00:00 2021-12-22 12:30:00 Commonwealth & International Student Christmas Conference 2021 Join us in Windsor Great Park for this year's Commonwealth and International Student Christmas Conference, our longest-standing tradition at Cumberland Lodge. International students based at UK universities are invited to take part in three days of stimulating cross-cultural and interdisciplinary discussions on the theme of 'Covid-19 & Education', and to experience traditional festive celebrations in welcoming surroundings. Our first gathering of international students at Cumberland Lodge took place over 70 years ago, in December 1947, shortly after King George VI granted us use of the building as an inclusive space for people of all backgrounds and perspectives to exchange views on pressing societal and ethical issues. Last year, amid pandemic restrictions, the conference went online for the first time in its history and we were joined by 33 students from 18 countries, representing 19 universities. This year, we are returning to our normal physical format, whilst maintaining a considered and vigilant approach to the pandemic. Programme highlights This relaxed and informal conference takes place at Cumberland Lodge, a stunning 17th-century, former royal residence in the heart of Windsor Great Park. We are within easy reach of London's major railway stations and airports, and we offer renowned food and home-from-home hospitality. This year’s programme features workshops led by guest speakers and facilitators on the right to education, the rise of online learning during the pandemic, and interdisciplinary working for solving complex challenges.  As part of the programme you will also have the chance to experience elements of a traditional British Christmas, including: A Christmas carol service in the Royal Chapel of All Saints A winter trail through Windsor Great Park A traditional Christmas dinner, with a visit from Father Christmas Festive evening games and entertainment Cumberland Lodge is close to attractions such as The Savill Garden, Virginia Water, and The Long Walk (which offers a spectacular view of Windsor Castle), and there is ample opportunity for walking, running and wildlife-spotting in the Great Park.
