Nahid will talk about her life, humanitarianism, and activism, in a candid conversation with our Programme Officer, Bea Raffan Gowar. About Nahid Nahid Shahalimi lives in Munich, Germany, with her two daughters. She was forced to leave Afghanistan with her family in 1985, being raised in Canada before moving to Munich later in life. After supporting Afghan women and girls for over two decades, Nahid started travelling across Afghanistan in 2011 to collect stories of hope and courage from women across the country. These were compiled into her book Where Courage Bears the Soul: We the Women of Afghanistan, published in 2017. Nahid currently works with high-ranking officials and steering committees for Afghan Women Defenders and recently authored Wir Sind Noch Da!, a bestseller featuring the first-hand accounts of Afghan women experts following the fall of Kabul in the summer of 2021. Format Guests are invited to join us from 5.45pm on Monday 21 November for refreshments, before taking a seat for the Conversation by 6.00pm. The Conversation will take place in Sandby, in The Mews conference centre at Cumberland Lodge. It will be hosted by our Programme Officer, Bea Raffan Gowar, following which members of the audience will have the chance to ask questions to our guest speaker. A short drinks reception will follow from 7.30pm to 8.00pm and tickets include a glass of wine. At 8.00pm, guests who have purchased dinner tickets will be invited to join us in the dining rooms for a set-course dinner. Tickets Tickets for this event are available from the checkout below.
