Our third and final retreat of our Emerging International Leaders programme for 2016/17 will take place over a weekend from 21-23 July 2017, on the theme of 'Freedom of Religion or Belief in Action'.
Up to 50 participants, all of whom are international students at UK universities and members of the Commonwealth or Chevening Scholarship schemes, will be joining us at the Lodge to explore practical responses to protecting and promoting the right to freedom of religion or belief, from local, national and international perspectives.
They will be exploring issues such as responses to blasphemy laws, religious profiling and national security concerns, and ideas for tackling religious discrimination in the workplace, enhancing and ensuring the religious and moral education of children, and where limitations to the freedom of religion or belief might be necessary.
The retreat will end with a graduation ceremony to mark the completion of this year's programme.
Speakers at our final retreat include:
Sue Breeze - International Counter-Extremism Group, Foreign & Commonwealth Office
Reverend Joel Edwards - Christian Solidarity Worldwide
Dr Brian Grim - Religious Freedom & Business Foundation (RFBF)
Derek McAuley - International Association for Religious Freedom and Religious Freedom Young Adult Network
