All welcome
Art by Christina Al-Wakil

Join us this autumn to discover the works of talented local artist and musician Christina Al-Wakil, who worked at Cumberland Lodge for many years in our Housekeeping team.

'In the Heart' is a collection of sketches and drawings inspired by the details and aspects of Cumberland Lodge that might otherwise go un-noticed, and the seasonal changes of our surroundings in Windsor Great Park.

This will be Christina's third exhibition at the Lodge, and all the works on display will be available to purchase. 'In the Heart' will be on display in our main hallway until Christmas.

About the artist

Christina comes from a family of artists, actors, historians and writers. She is the granddaughter of the late Major Francis Jones, a historian who once resided in the cottages at Cumberland Lodge. He was given the revived historic title of 'Wales Herald of Arms Extraordinary', ahead of the investiture of Prince Charles as Princes of Wales at Caernarfon Castle, in 1969.

Christina’s father was the late Iraqi sculptor, Abdul Rahim Al-Wakil, whose sculptures were exhibited alongside the likes of Picasso, John Piper and Sir Stanley Spencer. Her mother Anne Jones was a Welsh-born artist and scholar.

Talking about her upcoming exhibition, Christina said, ‘The Great Park shows its colours through magnificent displays, all year-round,and I never fail to notice them and to be filled with inspiring thoughts and positivity, as I travel in through Bishops Gate.

'I welcome you to come along and let these sketches and drawings take you on your own journey.’
