Not so long ago, a business had to have a premises to work in and out of. A business without a physical location was often seen as suspicious and certainly unprofessional.
Those days are long gone now. Modern technology, the pace of change, the speed of business cycles and the cost of property all mean that many businesses thrive without owning or renting their own brick and mortar location. But there are still times and situations where a physical meeting space of some sort is needed. And a typical and important example is when you need to host a one-off large meeting or conference. Even businesses that maintain their own facilities rarely have full conference facilities of their own – it simply isn’t worth the investment in the space and equipment for events that don’t feature much in the normal routine.
If your business needs a space for something different, then Cumberland Lodge, near Windsor, could be the solution over a conventional conference centre.
What to look for in a conference centre in Windsor
There are some key things that every prospective business looks for when choosing a conference centre.
- The perfect space: A conference centre should have a wide range of rooms available, from large theatres or board rooms to smaller meeting and working spaces. These spaces should have different characters, from formal or impressive to neutral and professional.
- Location: A conference centre or office needs to be easy for you, clients and partners to get to. Good transport links are essential, but also consider the environment – is it pleasant to produce a good impression on visitors and is it safe and quiet to produce a good working environment?
- Services: Beyond the bricks and mortar, what services are offered or included when you hire a space? Modern businesses need fast and reliable phone and internet connections and networking. Are there reception services and other staff on-site? Are there breakout rooms or spaces to relax and socialise? Apart from office and working space, are there spaces to stage events or receptions? Equipment for presentations and other media? On-site catering, be it tea and biscuits or full meals? Is there outdoor space for meetings or relaxing in fine weather?
Cumberland Lodge can provide all these things.

A Windsor conference centre vs. Cumberland Lodge
Cumberland Lodge isn’t a subdivided office building on a town centre side-street, or a converted unit on a business park. We offer a location, venue and character that is unique and provides something to both guests and their visitors.
Cumberland Lodge is a historic 17thcentury country house (and a former royal residence) set amid gardens and lawns in a corner of Windsor Great Park. Although we’re easily reached, with key junctions on the M25, M3 and M4 and stations served by fast trains to central London nearby, we are in a calm and secluded spot. No main roads, roundabouts, traffic lights or lorry parks – just hundreds of acres of maintained parkland and natural beauty.
Do other conference centres near Windsor have the option of serving visitors drinks or snacks on the lawn? Or an outdoor meeting area tucked away in the woods? Or a Georgian drawing room for hosting receptions or networking sessions? Or a historic chapel that has been a location in a major Hollywood film?
And we have 58 en-suite bedrooms on-site, able to accommodate a total of 90 guests. Not to mention three dining rooms suitable for small or large groups – so if you have clients or team members travelling to you from a distance, or are holding a multi-day event, it’s all on-site. We even have pool, table football, table tennis and other ways to unwind in our Vaults entertainment space. Everything you need is right here.
