The boardroom is the traditional ‘brain’ of a business – the place where senior executives meet to gather information, hear proposals, plan strategies and make key decisions that will shape the future of the business, its employees and its customers. Stereotypically, the boardroom is the seat of power and companies put a great deal of effort into making their boardrooms serious and impressive manifestations of their ambitions and resources.
That’s not really how modern business works, of course. The wood-panelled, deep-carpeted board room filled with sombre, ornate furniture is mostly a thing of the past these days. Modern boardrooms are less about projecting authority and more about fostering communication, collaboration and good decision making. A good boardroom needs space, light, connectivity and the right seating layout.
Why Do You Need to Hire a Boardroom?
A modern business may run day-to-day on more casual meetings, talks and catch-ups between small teams or reporting groups. And much business can be done by email or video call. But there are still many benefits to face-to-face meetings. And while a daily or weekly meeting between a handful of people to look at the tasks and challenges of the day can be done at desks, over a coffee or on sofas, that doesn’t work for all kinds of meetings.
Board-level meetings to review large-scale operations and make strategic decisions benefit not only from bringing all the people involved together in one space, but from a dedicated space that is equal to the occasion. It doesn’t just give the participants the physical space to lay out their documents and devices, keep notes, display information and make presentations. It also fosters a suitably professional and serious atmosphere. It can also be a dedicated and secluded space away from short-term distractions.
And a boardroom doesn’t just have to be literally for board meetings. Meetings with clients or partners – especially prospective, new or valuable ones – are often held in the boardroom to demonstrate a level of professionalism and respect, to showcase the company ‘at its best’ and because it is an effective meeting space.
Not every type of organisation may need a boardroom for these sorts of meetings, but many still find one effective and valuable. But these occasions may not come up very often – certainly not frequently enough to justify a large meeting space that would be underutilised the rest of the time.
The Advantages of Boardroom Hire
And that’s where boardroom hire comes in. It can be the perfect solution for many businesses, providing an appropriate meeting space when the executives and directors come together once a quarter or once a year.
Boardroom hire can be advantageous in other ways. Even if the business has suitable meeting space on its own premises, the board members or other meeting participants may be travelling from further afield, so hiring a boardroom in a more easily reached location may be preferable. When you hire a boardroom, the host venue will often be able to provide other services such as audio-visual technology or catering, from tea and biscuits to a full meal to round the day off. With that level of service, the meeting members can concentrate on the matter at hand without having to organise anything else.
Boardroom Hire at Cumberland Lodge
At Cumberland Lodge we can provide a boardroom for hire to suit any size, type and purpose of meeting. We have 10 rooms spread throughout our site, across two floors in the 17th century Lodge from which we take our name, the dedicated conference centre in the former Mews and even in the self-contained Groom’s House. All these rooms can be configured in a range of table types and seating layouts. For the larger rooms, this includes a classic boardroom-style oval table. Alternative layouts include circular, semi-circular and U-shape tables.
Whatever you need to hire a boardroom for, Cumberland Lodge can provide the perfect space. Our rooms can accommodate between six and 48 people depending on your own requirements, and their style and character range from the academic atmosphere of the Amy Buller Library or the traditional opulence of the Chapel to modern, business-like ambience in spaces such as the Windsor or Anderson Room.
Many of these rooms have striking views over our lawns and Windsor Great Park. You can also book additional rooms as break-out spaces or make use of our historic Drawing Room as a socialising and conversation space for before, between and after meetings.
Whatever your specific requirements, whether it’s the number of rooms or the chairs and tables, we are ready and willing to meet them. Contact us today to discuss what you need.
More Than Boardrooms For Hire
Cumberland Lodge can provide far more than just a room, a table and some chairs. When you hire a boardroom from us, we can help you with everything you need for an enjoyable and effective meeting.
All our meeting rooms are fully equipped with internet connectivity and power supplies. The larger spaces have fitted audio-visual equipment and portable displays can be provided in the smaller rooms, so wherever you are, presentations are not a problem.
Cumberland Lodge has full on-site catering facilities, which we can make available by arrangement. Whether it’s just jugs of water, hot drinks and biscuits, a light lunch or a full sit-down meal (in one of our dining rooms or out on the lawn) to round off the day, we can make it happen when you book with us.
Our buildings also include on-site accommodation. If your boardroom event hire spans multiple days, we have space for up to 95 guests in 58 en-suite bedrooms, so your participants can rest before, after or between meetings without leaving the site.
And we think that our site can be a great asset to any meeting. Set in the heart of Windsor Great Park, in the historical and elegant surroundings of a former royal residence, Cumberland Lodge is a secluded, quiet and undisturbed place where people can come together and focus on the business at hand. Our main work, and the purpose of our charitable foundation since 1947, has been exactly that – bringing people together to converse and share ideas.
