Rianna Patterson

Rianna is a PhD student studying dementia at the University of Nottingham and holds a master’s in dementia from UCL, with her thesis since published in the Caribbean Journal of Psychology at the University of the West Indies. She is the founder of the Dominica Dementia Foundation and a global TEDx speaker, and received the Queen’s Young Leader award from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for her commitment to dementia activism. Rianna also directed Dementia: The Island Journey, an award-winning, eco-friendly documentary on dementia in the Caribbean, which has received over eight film laureates and an honourable mention at the Brighton Rocks International Film Festival, and won “exceptional showcase” at the World Cinema Independent Awards in Kent, UK. The film is currently streaming on Caribbean Tales TV and Yard Vibes.
