Resource type:
Cumberland Lodge and The Attorney General’s Office have launched a new Magna Carta Facilitation Guide, a free resource for teachers and youth workers designed to help young people explore the enduring importance of the Rule of Law.
The guide builds on a landmark workshop held at Cumberland Lodge in June 2025 in partnership with the AGO, which brought together 50 students from schools, universities, and youth organisations to ‘re-imagine’ Magna Carta for the 21st century.
Through activities ranging from icebreakers and small-group debates to creative exercises, the guide encourages young people to:
- draft their own modern Magna Carta, exploring values such as equality, representation, and transparency in government.
- reflect on how the Rule of Law shapes everyday life.
- consider contemporary challenges to fairness and justice, including digital rights, artificial intelligence, and political literacy.
